Pastors’ Letter(s)

Dear Friends,

Welcome to St. Andrew! St. Andrew is a Christ-centered place of grace where people of all ages connect with God, with one another, and with the creation. St. Andrew is located on ten acres in Cedar Hills, a well-established increasingly diverse neighborhood of mostly single family homes in the heart of the westside of the Portland metro area. We are blessed with a seven acre wetland that we have begun to restore. We are delighted to have the Portland Taiwan Lutheran mission congregation share our facilities on Sunday morning.

Our community of faith is firmly rooted in the Evangelical Lutheran tradition. We appreciate grace-filled worship in a variety of settings and styles devoted to the proclamation of the Word of God and the reception of the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion. We love to sing and stress the role of music and the arts in worship. We place a strong emphasis on quality Christian education, focused on nurturing faith and equipping people for ministry in their daily lives. We are not afraid to engage in passionate but respectful debate on the pressing issues of our day. The people of St. Andrew enjoy gathering together for fellowship with one another and readily participate in a variety of mission projects on behalf of people in need in the community and beyond.

As the people of God we recognize we have a vital contribution to make in responding to the increasing diversity in our community, to the economic and environmental crises facing our nation and world, and to the yearning for spiritual growth in our society. We hope that St. Andrew may become a place of grace for you where you too can make connections and join with brothers and sisters in Christ in responding to the challenges of our day.

God’s blessings,
