The Adult Education Team sponsors several “Forums on Tough Issues” each year. Our goal is to encourage people of faith to engage in critical reflection and passionate yet respectful dialogue on tough issues in our church, in our community, and in our world. Often guest presenters are invited to come and speak on topics of pressing concern. We encourage people to propose tough issues for these forums.
Gathered around the table in his home, Martin Luther talked freely and openly with his colleagues and students about matters of faith, theology, and varied aspects of daily life. In an effort to cultivate this kind of spirited discussion, Pastor Brocker invites you to gather for Table Talks in the Fellowship Hall from 7:00–8:30 pm on September 29, October 27, November 29, February 23, March 30, April 27, and May 25. These conversations are especially intended for those eager to dig deeper into pressing theological, ethical, and faith issues.
Centering Prayer is a method of prayer revived from ancient teachings in the Christian heritage that emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God. It does not replace other kinds of prayer, but instead offers us a way to quiet our faculties. By taking time to “rest in God” each day, we prepare to receive the gift of God’s presence.
