Allison Katsufrakis, Minister of Music
Allison Katsufrakis has grown up at St. Andrew Lutheran Church and is now delighted to be serving as minister of music in her home congregation. She has a Bachelor of Music degree in percussion performance from Central Washington University and a master's degree in arts management from George Mason University. She conducts the Sanctuary Choir, plays a critical role in worship design and planning, schedules worship leaders for services, and assists in planning for weddings and memorials. Allison has also served on the Community Worship planning committee for the Portland Metro Chapter of ReconcilingWorks. When she's not at church, Allison performs as a freelance percussionist with a variety of local ensembles, builds Lego houses with her daughter, walks the dog with her husband, or snuggles on the couch with her cats and her knitting.
Susan Friesen, Principal Accompanist
Susan Werner Friesen relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2015 to be near her family. A love for tracker action pipe organs led her to St. Andrew Lutheran Church, where she is blessed to play the Paul Fritts organ and a Steinway piano! A lifelong Lutheran, Susan began her musical journey as a child singing in church and Sunday School, as well as taking piano lessons and playing clarinet in elementary school through college. She has Bachelor of Music degrees in music education and organ performance from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and a Master of Arts degree with a focus in church music, choral conducting, and organ from Valparaiso University in Indiana. She served parishes in the Chicago area and in southern Illinois for more than 40 years. She was commissioned as an Associate in Ministry in the ELCA in 1989. Susan was very active in the Organ Historical Society, has served as newsletter editor for the Chicago-Midwest Chapter and for the nationa publication, The Tracker. A member of the American Guild of Organists, she served as Dean of the Northwest Suburban Chicago Chapter. Other interests include crafting in many forms and looking after the dog and three cats who allow her to live with them.
John Giddens, The Waters Ensemble Leader
A member of St. Andrew since 2000, John Giddens has led The Waters ensemble since 2002. As the ensemble leader and a singer and guitarist, John plans, organizes, and leads rehearsals and the group's offerings during worship.
